About

Hello/Hola/Bonjour/Ciao!

Who am I and what is this blog about?

My name is Matt and I'm an online English teacher. Ever since I was young, I’ve always wanted to be able to speak another language. For many years, this was only an interest that I never committed to. My language learning journey really began in June 2019, and since then it has become a passion.

This blog is about language learning based on my personal experiences and the experiences of others that I've learned about. It will include various topics such as methods to learn a language, mistakes I've made, answering general questions about language learning, and interviews with polyglots who've had a lot of success in learning languages. I will try to upload one or two posts per week.

Why did I create this blog?

I created this blog for 2 reasons:

1) I want to help people learn languages - When I first started, I didn't have any idea what I was doing and I ended up wasting a lot of time. I hope this blog will be able to inspire people in their own language learning and help them have more success than I did at the start of mine.

2) I want to help English-learners practice their reading - One of the most useful methods I've used in my language learning is reading authentic material related to things that interest me. This helped me so much, and I want to return the favour by creating content that learners can use to improve their reading skills. I hope to write content to an intermediate-advanced level of difficulty so learners can improve, while still using 'everyday' language that isn't unnecessarily difficult.

Language learning has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life so far, and I have no plans on stopping. I’m not an expert in language learning and I'm definitely not an expert in blog creating/writing; I'm just a person with language learning experience who wants to help people. At the end of the day, if those reading this (whether it is one person or one hundred) have improved their own language learning because of this blog, I'll consider it a success. Please feel free to leave comments on the posts to share your thoughts and experiences related to language learning. These may help other people reading them, and I may learn something new as well!
